Summer is approaching and soundinitiative is getting ready for the Darmstadt Ferienkurse that will take place this August. The ensemble has been invited as part of the Boost! Young Ensembles program, the first French ensemble to receive this distinction, andsoundinitiative is asking you to participate in this adventure by being part of our very first fundraising campaign which will go towards financing the trip and the accommodation for the ensemble's musicians. The English version of the fundraising page will be live next week - make sure to check it out!
Before all that, soundinitiative is crossing the Atlantic with their Canadian version of "Voices and Piano - Scènes pour voix et mains", presented as part of a residence at the CIRMMT at MacGill University, as well as a concert - or more so an event - the 5th of May at La Chapelle du Bon Pasteur in Montreal.
Two new pieces for large ensemble will be premiered next month, by Colin Tucker and Januibe Tejera alongside music byFeldman and Steen-Andersen at the Fondation des Etats-Unis the 19th of May in Paris.
Two upcoming concerts in our series 'Hors les murs' (Sideshow) will take place on the 18th of June at the great art foundation La Maison Rouge which is celebrating it's 10th year of operation this year, and on the 12th of July at the City Library of Cergy, a concert devoted to the music of Peter Ablinger.
Then Darmstadt, nous voici! We will be working with and performing the music of some of our favourite composers, including Santiago Diez-Fischer, Chris Swithinbankand Joanna Bailie, as well as commencing some new exciting collaborations with Mauro Lanza and Clara Ianotta, and we are delighted to be the ensemble in residence for the 'Expanded Music' workshop of composer Simon Steen-Andersen.
We will be back to perform in Paris on the 24th of Octobre in the concert series 'Rendez-vous Contemporains' at the Eglise Saint-Merry with a program filled with the energy and experiences we will have had at the festival in Darsmtadt.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Regards
the musicians of soundinitiative
